Ben’s Volunteer Work with Reece Plumbing, Reece Foundation, and Resilient Lismore: A Journey of Support and Recovery
Project Overview:
In the wake of the devastating floods that ravaged Lismore and the Northern Rivers region on 28th February 2022, thousands of families found themselves grappling with the harsh reality of displacement, loss, and uncertainty. Among those who stepped up to offer aid and support, Ben, alongside Reece Plumbing, Reece Foundation, and Resilient Lismore, embarked on a mission of hope and restoration.
The Project:
The collaboration between the Reece Foundation and Resilient Lismore aimed at connecting essential water and sanitation services to those displaced or vulnerable due to the floods. This initiative was pivotal in facilitating the safe return of residents to their homes and communities.
Phase One:
Ben and a team of five dedicated tradespeople lent their expertise to assess the scope of work required for the project. Together with Reece Plumbing, they meticulously planned and organized material lists and quotes, laying the groundwork for the subsequent phases of the project.
Phase Two:
Scheduled to commence on 20th February 2023, Phase Two of the project calls upon the expertise of ten tradespeople to restore essential services to up to thirty homes. This critical phase represents a beacon of hope for the affected families, signaling a path towards recovery and stability.
A Journey of Compassion and Resilience:
Throughout his involvement in this noble endeavor, Ben had the opportunity to listen to the poignant stories of resilience and survival from the local community. The floods not only altered landscapes but also reshaped lives, leaving an indelible mark on those who experienced its wrath firsthand. However, amidst the adversity, there emerged a spirit of unity and strength, as neighbors banded together to support one another through the darkest of times.

As Ben continues his involvement with Reece Plumbing, Reece Foundation, and Resilient Lismore, he remains committed to the ongoing recovery efforts and the rebuilding of communities. Together, they stand as a testament to the power of collective action and compassion in the face of adversity.
